Florida DUI Attorneys
Seat Belts Save Lives

The Law Firm of Lawyers Parks & Braxton
To better inform the public and our clients, the Florida DUI attorneys of Park's and Braxton provide this information page about seat belts. Many would wonder, what do laws regarding driving under the influence have to do with seat belts. Several things. First, someone driving with a seat belt is less likely to be pulled over in the first place. This is someone that is obviously taking the time to care about safety, and this is something that helps you realize the importance of being careful while driving. Second, if you habituate the putting on of seat belts, you are more likely to do so naturally, even if under the influence of alcohol or narcotics. This means that you are more likely to wear the belt and if you are in an accident, more likely to survive.

We in no way condone driving under the influence. Our Florida DUI attorneys see far too many cases where harm is done to our clients, and to others. It is important that you not drive under the influence. However, should the situation arise, it is FAR better to be wearing your seat belt. And, if there is a need for a lawyer due to being confronted by an officer, we hope that you will contact our offices for a consultation. It's important that you find a qualified attorney wherever you are in the state. And the law firm of Parks & Braxton is ready to take on your case wherever you are in the Sunshine State.

You should consult the latest information from the state about who is required to wear seat belts, but as of now the only exemptions are for:

1) Medical condition certified by a doctor
2) Newspaper home delivery person performing their duties
3) School buses or paid buses
4) Farm equipment
5) Trucks over 5,000 pounds
6) Motorcycle, moped or bike

Using your seatbelt protects you, your passengers and others on the road. They help keep you in control of your vehicle and upright in your seat. They prevent injury and aid in the function of airbags. They keep you from being thrown about and injured.

Again, we hope that you will never need them. But seatbelts are an important element of your safety. Please utilize them while driving in ANY condition.
